Science Is FUN!

We are incredibly lucky to have the Vancouver Water Resource Education Center right in our back yard. Once a month on the second Saturday, an amazing group of volunteers, many with 10 and even 15 years of volunteer service, create an adventure in learning. All for free. All interactive. Such a joy! With my gratitude to all of the volunteers and staff of the Water Resource Education Center.

Black Light experiment:

These work well under the light

Tonic Water - with Quinine - excellent
Highlight Markers
Chlorophyll  made from spinach and rubbing alcohol

Star Gazing
Ursa Major and Minor
with glow in the dark paint - under black light - fun - too overcast to see stars tonight. Next time...

Spotted an amazing rainbow today on our way out during a few moments of the sun breaking through.

Mushroom Education - Fungi vs Flower - Mushrooms don't need sunlight. They eat waste material.

They grow in the dark. Most flowers/plants need sun some can grow in moon light.

Upcoming projects: Butterfly garden, night blooming flower - perhaps moon flower - recall the wonderful book on this topic.
