Ryder also enjoys reading endless amounts of the typical graphic novels and what I call "bumble gum" novels such as Dilbert, Big Nate, Garfield and Calvin and Hobbs,  Pearls Before Swine, Bones, etc.

He was an early reader, not by my intention or pushing. He rarely is ever without a book. This is very different than his younger brother Dax who is 9 and has no desire to read and struggles. This is partially due to the head trauma from a car accident at age 7 right when we had begun reading. But generally his personality is not one to take in other's material, he loves creating stories and art. Interesting differences to note.
