Sometimes the greatest joy comes from bubbles

Sometimes things just happen for a reason. As I was taking the boys across the water (from the coove to pdx) to their bi-weekly class) the bridge was backed up. I drove 6 miles over to the next bridge and the only other one to get across and it too was blocked. I had left early to talk to Dax's teacher about the numerous time outs and the issues around this and they were having on Dax. Blocked all the way - not just physically.

I got off the nearest exit and found our way to downtown library where a 3-5 year old story time was just beginning. This was just what I needed to step back and slow down.

Sunday night regroup from an intense week of bloody noses, sassy attitudes and such

Ryder's key hole ken cartoon

Dax gifted me with this note and a flower the other night.

Kelly drew the two to the left then left the paper, Dax, who draws on anything in front of him, drew ninja garfield. From his own imagination and then proceeded to tell me all about this adventure. Oh I love his creativity and imagination!
Spring break officially starts tomorrow here in Vancouver. What does that mean to me? I'll have to answer that later. Right now, I'll just get this all down.

First: When I went to pick the boys up, Sunny, an adorable, spunky sort and Dax's teacher at Chinese School was so taken with Dax's response to his friend and opponent winning the game just before. For me, this was no surprise. But for her and to listen to her express her enthusiasm was a huge reward moment for my mom world. Dax doesn't have a huge competition issue - meaning, I'm better than you, if I don't win then...none of that, (except with his brother) - he genuinely is happy that his friend could win and congratulates him in an authentic, enthusiastic manner. This was a surprise to Sunny but recognized as a wonderful character trait. Not sure if I explained it well but if/when I re-read this or my boys do this will bring back wonderful memories. Note to self, read this again when he's being snarky. Argh - like now as he screams at his brother.

OK, so brothers - jeeze  these two are so intense. Kelly, their dad, is aghast at how they fight and constantly tells them he and his brothers NEVER fought. Oh, selective memories here perhaps. I digress...so these two boys, they fought (in a playful manner they do, creating ninja worlds, pirates and escapes that involve who knows what) and Dax got punched in the nose - twice - before it was bleeding profusely. They were both very interested in the process and the blood spurting and all the excitement. I don't need to go in to more details or my response: calm, cool, collected. I was indeed. When it was all "over" I looked in the mirror and saw a new streak of gray, beautiful. Just lovely. !#$&

Mirabi - a beautiful story - that's Ryder's LA study this past week. We continue with Enki Education and 3 fold and spin and fold. This is healing during the week. When weekend comes, it's chaos. When will it balance out? I count the days.

Dax, he is so sweet. Loving to his Marie guinea pig. Artist and creator. I'm in awe at what he can do.

Violin practice daily, piano practice for Dax  - that's basically free play.

Lots of bike riding, science experiments, math (great new book need to note the name of it)

Book club for the boys - mostly Ryder. Reading Rangers - new book is pretty thick and Ryder hasn't devoured it like he has the others - so maybe he'll enjoy this for the next week. Garfield - he's in to garfield - and bones. Comics. He's already read 16 of Garfields books. I personally am not crazy about it because it's snotty and rude and obnoxious - albeit funny. I use to laugh out loud but that was when I was a few years older than Ryder. I don't like him taking this into his little being and I can see he already integrates this - garbage in garbage out. Venting here.

OK, that's all my brain can take right now.

A good week  all in all. And above there are some snaps of their creations as cartoonists t this week.
