I have not completed the compilation and summary of Ryder's 4th grade but I am clear on where we need to go and have been assessing his competency in the general subjects.
This year we have his structure in place but I will want to have special focus on these areas:
MUSIC:
Deepen Violin work and expand into fiddling with a stronger repertoire. Fiddleocity is an option
and will be a good adjunct as we work on voice. Begin sight reading and harmony and 2 and 3 part singing. (This was introduced last year and we practiced this at NVC camp beautifully). Confidence seems to be low around singing and I'm not certain why? I've never invalidated his voice nor do I recall anyone else doing so. Is it something that he came up with on his own? Not certain, especially when Dax is a natural singer and constantly singing in harmony and rhythm.
MOVEMENT EDUCATION
Ball games, basketball, soccer, baseball are fine but let's get more with collaborative games
Frisbee and running games
Circus skills - juggling, unicycle, tight rope
Tumbling and group pyramids (jujitsu monkey in the tree)
Aikido movements for controlling and redirecting physcial energy
Get gymnastic mats for studio to practice falling and rolling. Rings on rack at studio and have Ryder work more on pull ups
Cooperative games and problem solving - Capture the flag, NVC camp, connect with the Waldorf schools locally
Renaissance fair and Medieval Games
Investigate further at the county fair next week
Circle time daily with the fundamentals
EURYTHMY
Curve of Cassini, continue with rod exercises, geometrical forms, peace and energy dances, gestures of alphabet and times tables
More spirals and major and minor moods
Anapest rhythm
SPIRIT
Bible, Neville, Ramtha
Jonathan Livingston Seagull
Understanding the causaul plain, law of attraction concepts, continue with the daily poems of Steiner
