We started out January 16 on our road trip for 2019.
Directly following the boys piano and violin lessons we began our journey.
Our first stop was Sharky's which is a franchise Kelly and I found in Burbank and loved. The Sharky's in Tualitin, OR was sub par but we needed to experience it to find out. (I took the boys to our original Sharky's and it is still the best. More pricey than chipotle so we won't go again - chipotle still favorite fast food for us)
Our second stop was Roseburg, OR which was suggested by our friends. There is a train and a wonderful park that is situated near the river. It was a perfect rest stop to run and stretch our legs with decent bathrooms.
That night we arrived at our first Airbnb, an old Victorian style home with the family living on the bottom floor and the top 3 rooms for the Airbnb. Interesting how it is becoming more common.
We woke early the next morning, packed and since there was a piano, the boys practiced their lessons before we headed out to the Redwood National Forrest.
Thursday we spent the day hiking at Trinidad Head and being with the Redwoods. It was wonderful.
The next day we drove Botany Bay and saw where the Birds was filmed and made it into Santa Rosa where Charles Schulz museum was. Followed by driving through San Francisco which was painful!
We stayed in a motel outside of San Francisco after sitting in traffic for 2 hours. Misery!
Waking early again we headed to Sequoia National Park. Walking through the giant trees and discovering the juxtaposition of the redwoods vs the sequoias. Magnificent.
All along the way we worked on Multiplication tables and watched I love Lucy and Jackie Robinson Documentary. These were two of the biographies we had been working on during January. They were chosen by the boys and Dax was really taken with Jackie Robinson.
